Background

Before launching Deviation, Jonathan was a Partner at NEA, where he spent six years leading early-stage and growth investments across applied AI, SaaS and fintech. That investing experience was informed by a deep run on the operating side. Prior to NEA, he spent six years at Airbnb, joining in 2011 as its first Product Manager when the company had just eight engineers, and eventually serving as Director of Product through a period of significant growth. Before Airbnb, he held product roles at HubSpot and Dropbox, and earlier in his career invested at Greylock Partners following his start at Goldman Sachs. Jonathan holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

Perspective

My time at Airbnb taught me the importance of adapting and evolving as an organization. With significant growth, the processes and team that got you there will need to evolve to get you where you're going next. That doesn't mean what you were doing before was wrong...evolution is simply a necessary part of growth
